Description
The technology has been successfully tested over the past five years. The initial system was implemented in a large post-smolt facility in Norway, where it has been preparing Atlantic salmon for grow-out over the past two years.
The system operates at a salinity level of 12–32‰ and a temperature range of 7–14 °C, achieving a 98% water recycling rate. Water consumption is 400–500 liters per kg of feed.
Biofiltration is fully integrated into the SCADA system for automated control, with backwashing scheduled every four weeks.
